The Goodlife Farm

Lesley Porter founded The Good Life Farm to help young people who’ve suffered the kind of abuse and neglect that scarred her own childhood.

She does this in an extraordinary way – putting troubled lives back on track by forging strong bonds with animals and nature.

The Goodlife Farm is a 10 week therapeutic group program for young people aged 10-15 years. This therapeutic group program caters for young people from a diverse range of backgrounds; from minor challenges to complex needs.

The program provides an interactive, hands-on farm experience designed to build coping skills, resilience, mastery and self-esteem. Participants are supported to engage in a wide range of farm based activities including cooking and diet, building and construction, gardening, animal care, general farm maintenance, relaxation/ self-care and team work.

Peak bodies analysis of this years State Government Budget

What are the peak bodies saying. We hear from CHP, CHFV and VCOSS

Council to Homeless Persons (CHP)

The Council to Homeless persons has congratulated the Victorian Government on the significant investments in housing, homelessness and family violence announced in this year's State Budget. While many of the commitments outlined in the Budget had been announced previously, they are worth recognising a second time; in particular, the Government’s major housing centrepiece Homes for Victorians, which includes $1 billion commitment to a Social Housing Growth fund. The other big news in this year's budget was the $1.9 billion investment in family violence services. Given the insidious relationship between homelessness and family violence, this commitment is highly commended.
